Game Review: New Super Mario Bro's Wii

Princess Peach captured again? No way! Well, back to the unoriginal plot but epic gameplay. Its time to review the New Super Mario Bro's Wii!

So the game starts off looking pretty impressive, the graphics are far beyond what you would expect from the Nintendo Wii system. Overall comparatively the graphics aren't amazing, but you wouldn't expect human like polygons and intense details on a mario game. The game follows the basic look and feel of any Mario game, 2D side scrolling game with new items, sounds fun!

So blah blah Peach gets stolen by Baby Bowser and his entourage of "Brothers" who then inhabit castles  over eight worlds of play, with a hidden ninth world you can unlock later in the game. Each world is filled with many different assortment of levels ranging from the classic "Ghost House" to "Underground" classics and highflying turtle hopping levels.

The best part you ask? You can play up to FOUR players. The four player mode allows you to interact with each other in the level, picking each other up, throwing and even using each other as propellers if the power-up is available at the time. (Sometimes you just need to throw a friend into their own doomed lava or poison pit =] ) You can also use each other to bounce extra high to get to hidden areas. The four player option is the only reason why I rate this game so high, the amount of hours I spent playing this game with friends and family surpassed the time I spent playing alone. Multi-player mode just makes the game better, hands down.

The controls are pretty dull overall, but they did add a nice feature to the game using the Wii's motion sensors. If you shake your controller while in the air, on the ground or while you have a propeller upgrade you will do one of the following: Ground shake (Shoots Fire/Frost balls if you have the upgrade) Air Shake (Allows you to slow or speed direction to perfect landings) or Flight (sending you up high, and allowing you to slowly float down to safety.)

I rate this game with a 9/10, most of the points come from the multiplayer fun, but I do wish there was a way to compete online with other mario lovers (Almost like they did with Mario Cart Wii.) There was a level of excellence that they reached with this new Mario game, and I look forward to the next Mario game that comes out... oh wait they already announced it!

Thats right gamers, Super Mario Galaxy 2 has been announced! Check it out over at the Game Hunters blog over at USA Today's site. Or feel free to watch a gameplay video from E3 Here.

Anyway Gamers, Hope you enjoyed the post. See you Next monday, or maybe even sooner! =D

(Ps: To unlock levels in world nine, collect all the star coins from each world!)

  2. Ditto everything that was said. Although I am not a master at this game (ask ANYbody), the multiplayer feature makes the game more interactive. And by the way, make sure you play with someone you reeeealy like, because when they do throw you into those lava or poison pits, well, lets just say you need a certain level of self conrol - take that from an experienced victim :p
